French Love Token Necklace
This exquisite necklace features a round love token pendant on a wheat chain. Simple but beautiful. A perfect gift for someone special or a meaningful addition to your own jewelry collection.
The story of the love token comes from the 1889 poem "L'eternelle chanson" or 'The Eternal Song" by Rosemond Gerard.
While the charm can take on a variety of iterations, it is always inscribed “+ Qu’hier - Que Demain,” most often inside of a gold circular pendant with a diamond-encrusted plus sign and a ruby minus sign meaning “For you see, each day I love you more, today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.”
It is said that the slight ambiguity of “more than yesterday, less than tomorrow” allows for the necklace to be worn as a stealthy proclamation of love.
