The game of Mahjong is played with a set of 144 tiles. Sets come in a variety of styles and colors but are typically arranged in three main groups: suits, honor tiles, and bonus tiles. Suits consist of three types: Circles, Bamboos, and Characters, each with numbers 1-9, forming a total of 108 tiles. Honor tiles include Winds and Dragons, and bonus tiles may include Flowers and Seasons.

We offer a variety of tile sets so you can select the style that appeals to you.

Each set includes: 

  • Tiles, 
  • Dice/Coin Bag
  • 4 Instructional Cards
  • (You must purchase the NMJL Playing Card separately if you play American Mahjong).  

Tiles:  

  • 160 Acrylic Tiles 
  • 1-9 Bams, Cracks, and Dots (4 of each) = 108 
  • N E W S (4 of each) = 16 
  • Red, Green, and White Dragons (4 of each) = 12 
  • Flowers = 8 
  • Jokers = 10 
  • Blanks = 6  

Dimensions: Individual Tile Size: 0.87” Wide x 0.75” Deep x 1.25” Tall

Suits:

Circles (or Dots): Represented by dots, numbered 1-9, with four sets of each number.

Bamboos (or Sticks): Represented by bamboo sticks, also numbered 1-9, with four sets of each number.

Characters (or Craks): Represented by Chinese characters, also numbered 1-9, with four sets of each number.

Honor Tiles:

Winds: Represent the four directions: East, South, West, and North.

Dragons: Represented by the Red, Green, and White dragons.

Bonus Tiles (Optional):

Flowers: Four unique tiles, often with different imagery.

Seasons: Four tiles representing different seasons.

Other: The game may include extra tiles like Jokers or spares, according to Yellow Mountain Imports. Some sets include extra blanks or seasons, according to The Mahjong Line. The specific tiles and their imagery can vary between different Mahjong variations.
